Kaizer Chiefs get ANOTHER boost in Percy Tau transfer chase!

It seems as if with every update Kaizer Chiefs get more of a chance of singing Percy Tau.

Tau is currently in the last year of contract at Al Ahly with Chiefs reportedly still in the hunt for his signature.

Chiefs have been struggling in front of goal, of late despite an impressive early start to the season.  They have had to rely on a youthful attacking force carrying them, with only Ranga Chivaviro and Gaston Sirino being experienced. Along side them, there have been the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi.

Chiefs interested in Tau

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been stressing in the past few weeks that his talented youngsters do need experienced guidance. He has also stressed that Chiefs will be looking to add such players in the upcoming transfer windows. One experienced forward that the club were reportedly heavily pursuing is Tau. It is thought they made a few inquiries and informal offers which were rejected by Al Ahly.

Furthermore, it was claimed that Tau, himself, was ready to reject Chiefs in hope of an overseas move. Another option that was widely reported was that of a rival club to Al Ahly in Zamaleksigning him if he becomes a free agent. But now according to reports, that option is and was never on the horizon to begin with.

Zamalek rule themselves out

“There has never been an offer from Zamalek for Percy Tau. Currently, no one at the club is thinking about signing players from Al Ahly, just as Al Ahly is not considering signing players from us. No player joins Zamalek without José Gomes being fully convinced. As a board, we cannot impose a player on the coach.” Said board member Ahmed Suleiman to MBC Masr as per KingFut.

Boost for Amakhosi?

That would be music to the ears of Chiefs as that subtracts yet another rival on the continent for Tau. Perhaps now it is the threat of Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad Casablanca that remains the biggest. There is also the possibility of signing a lucrative deal in the middle east.

Chiefs fans, would you welcome a soon to be 31-year-old Tau to the club as a free agent? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
