It was a rare, wonderful night for Kaizer Chiefs as they took on Stellenbosch FC, winning 2-1 thanks to a Wandile Duba double.
The AmaKhosi faithful would have felt low after their 1-0 loss in the Mother City three days prior but saw their side prevail against a well-versed Cape Winelands side.
The win propelled Kaizer Chiefs up to fifth place, in reach of the coveted top three, but Nasreddine Nabi seems unconvinced of their consistency, warning fans not to get carried away after beating Steve Barker’s side.
“My mission here [at Chiefs] is to build a good team and in this process, we can lose, we can win like today but we have to be realistic and [not] get over-excited because we won. We still have a lot of work to do,”
“We believe that our supporters have the right to be frustrated when the results are not there but we have to understand that sometimes it’s other people who push the agenda as they don’t want the club to succeed,” said Nabi.
Steve Barker furious with Chiefs
“I don’t think Kaizer Chiefs would have been good enough to score against us had we not made our errors which basically led to the first and second goal,” Barker reported.
“Then after we tried to get ourselves back into the game. The last 15-20 minutes unfortunately became a lot of stop-start, a lot of cramps, a lot of slowing down the game, a lot of chaotic [incidents].
“The opposition staff on the bench created chaos needed for them to see out the game.”
