Former Orlando Pirates forward Sifiso Myeni nearly played for Kaizer Chiefs but for the training sessions at Naturena.

SIFISO MYENI AT KAIZER CHIEFS

According to the player known as “Ntsunda,” he arrived at Amakhosi on trial but was put off by non-endless gym sessions instead of training with the ball on the field. He lost patience and went to Bidvest Wits.

“He (Ertugral) was at Ajax, he went on to coach Chiefs. He said bring him I got there, I went straight to the first team,” Myeni said as quoted by Soccer Laduma. “First day I got there, I always remember this guy, what a nice and humble guy, Mabhuti Khenyeza

“He called me to his car, he didn’t know me (but gave me a warm welcome). Now you see people you used to see on TV, your David Mathebula, your Jimmy Tau…Now I get there, we play, as a youngster you’re scared.

“Muhsin doing drills. I was even scared to take (drink) water. We were training and going to gym (at the same time). Chiefs were not saying anything (about my trial), I told (my local coach) ‘I’m leaving them. I was frustrated by gym, l was still young. You know, as a youngster you just want to play football, this thing of going to the gym, treadmills, I didn’t have time for that. I was like ja, Chiefs is a big team, but I can’t change this programme. I told my (local) coach

‘I’m tired! Every time gym!? I wanna play! (Eventually) I left and went to Wits!” Myeni added before excelling at Wits under Roger De Sa and later at Orlando Pirates.

WAS SIFISO MYENI GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT AMAKHOSI IF HE STAYED?
