Kaizer Chiefs are clearly making moves in the current transfer window, but with little success thus far.
Chiefs are currently fifth in the Betway Premiership and are looking to improve their squad in 2025.
Chiefs getting busy in the current window
It has already been an eventful week for Chiefs, filled with transfer news. Early in the week, it was revealed that they have entered talks with former Switzerland youth international Ruben del Campo. The next day, news came out they had launched a bid to beat arch rivals Orlando Pirates to Oswin Appollis. There have been no news on the progress of the above yet but that hasn’t slowed down other pursuits.
While Appollis is a prime target, another equally important target for coach Nasreddine Nabi is Feisal Salum. The Tunisian is more than familiar with the Tanzanian international while at Yanga SC, then against him after he moved to Azam FC. It is believed that assistant coach Cedric Kaze, who was with Nabi at Yanga, came in and recommended the player. It was rumoured earlier that Chiefs had made a R15 million offer for the player.
A source from Azam recently came out saying there were no offers for Salum from Chiefs nor Simba SC. Now, however, according to FARPost, Amakhosi have made their first move but was met with rejection!
Offer for Salum rejected by Azam!
“Kaizer Chiefs have seen their pursuit of talented Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum thwarted by his current club, Azam FC. The Soweto giants reportedly submitted a significant offer for the 26-year-old, who has been a revelation in recent seasons. The Dar es Salaam club has reportedly made it clear to both Chiefs and Simba that Salum is crucial to their future plans as they aim to challenge for league honours.” Wrote the publication.
It now looks like Chiefs either need to go back to the drawing board, or accept defeat for now. They can then come back in the winter window with a bigger and more tempting offer. Amakhosi, should your club management go back in for Salum with an even bigger offer? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
