Kaizer Chiefs are looking to add to their strike force, with their next window of opportunity in the January market.
Chiefs realised even before the season started that they need a striker to compete with the current crop.
Chiefs searching for a striker
There were quite a few strikers linked to Chiefs, mainly during the previous transfer window. Fiston Mayele, Lebohang Mothiba, Lungelo Nguse and Ashley Cupido among them. In the end, the club was either outpriced or did not get anywhere with negotiations with the said parties.
That has not stopped their drive for a better outcome during the next transfer window, however.Chiefs have been struggling in front of goal, of late despite an impressive early start to the season. They have had to rely on a youthful attacking force carrying them, with only Ranga Chivaviro and Gaston Sirino being experienced. Along side them, there have been the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been stressing in the past few weeks that his talented youngsters do need experienced guidance. He has also stressed that Chiefs will be looking to add such players in the upcoming transfer windows.
Makhubu approached for January?
Now according to KickOff.comChiefs have shown an interest in Magesi FC striker Wonderboy Makhubu.
“Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with the player’s representatives, Makhubu’s contract with Sekhukhune United indeed expires in June. But the contract has an option. It’s an open secret that Sekhukhune will exercise the option. If they do so, that means Kaizer Chiefs have to pay.” Said the source.
Would it be a good move?
Makhubu has been a revelation for Magesi, while on loan from Sekhukhune United. He has been at the forefront of their mini revival in the league, as well as their Carling Knockout Cup triumph. With his speed and direct play, he could prove to be a good addition to the Chiefs attack.
