MAPARA A JAZZ: X

Once a December banger during COVID times, has fallen short as the John Vuli Gate duo Mapara A Jazz, consisting of Mano Nephawe and Leornard Malatji struggle to make ends meet.

In 2020, the  John Vuli Gate single gained massive popularity from internet users after a group of women danced to the song at a petrol station later causing the duo to release a music video.

Speaking to news publication, DailySun after releasing their new song, the duo stated that this was their big break after being in the industry for 13 years.

At the time of the song’s popularity, the duo was happy to be finally recognised in the music industry, and although their excitement was short-lived given the number of new talents and hit singles Mzansi artists have produced over the years, Mapara A Jazz hope to still get gigs.

According to entertainment publication ZiMoja, the music duo have been struggling to get gigs, causing them to relocate back home.

Despite still working with controversial music company Open Mic Productions which has gone on to birth the biggest stars in the country such as Makhadzi and Master KG.

A close adds that the music duo’s fame might have faded away due to the industry’s shelf-life, adding, “Moving back home doesn’t make you a failure. We are still performing here and there, and yes things are not the same but we are pushing and still doing what we love.”
