Former President Jacob Zuma is making headlines on his birthday. Thanks to his huge following, the former president often trends whenever he posts or gets posted.

UMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) released a statement wishing their leader a happy birthday.

MK PARTY PENS HEARTFELT BIRTHDAY MESSAGE TO ZUMA AS HE TURNS 83

Part of the press release read: “As a stalwart of the liberation struggle, President Zuma has always stood with the oppressed and marginalised people of our country.

President Zuma, whilst imprisoned on Robben Island, sacrificed years of his life fighting for the liberation of our people. His life is defined by sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the people of South Africa.”

However, reports have it that he ghosted thousands of supporters and senior members who attended his birthday rally in Eshowe, northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The publication has since noted that the programme was scheduled to start at 11 am, but at the time, he had not arrived. Surprisingly, it started at 2 pm, but Zuma had still not arrived.

When asked about Zuma’s no-show, party provincial deputy organiser Reggie Ngcobo, the master of ceremony, said Zuma was not coming.

“I don’t know why because we have not been informed, but there was an indication that he is coming. It might happen that a problem stopped him from coming.”

A LAVISH BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH CLOSE FAMILY MEMBERS

Against the reports, Zuma’s photos from his lavish family birthday affair with close MKP members flooded online.

The former president turned 83 on Saturday. No doubt, his age left many puzzled. Some lauded him as fit as a fiddle, while others said he should retire from politics and enjoy his retirement.

Zuma, also the father-in-law of Eswatini king Mswati III, was born on 12 April 1942.

Little is known about where the intimate gathering occurred, but several photos from the birthday celebrations have since flooded online.

Some notable faces at the party included his wives, MaKhumalo and MaNgema. Zuma’s 83rd birthday cake was decorated with MK Party’s colours: green, black, and yellow.

Despite dumping the ANC at the eleventh hour for the MK Party, Zuma remains one of the most prominent political figures in South Africa.

He was the fourth president of South Africa, and his term was from 2009 to 2018.

Despite being lauded as one of the best presidents in South Africa, his presidential terms were marred by corruption and incompetence.
