Social media is not only a place to have fun but also a good place to help people.

Recently, a controversial Facebook user @Iswazi Zandiswa Msikinya took upon herself to share a story of a woman who went to hospital for an operation and came out paralysed.

Akhona Matyhopho is lady that resides in Cape Town who went to Groote Schuur in 2010 for an Aortic aneurysm. The procedure made her sit on a wheelchair with no explanation or whatsoever. However, it is believed that the procedure can be reversed.

She also opened up about how this affected her life as being a breadwinner at home but now cannot provide for her family how she wants to. She also shared that her mother even passed away because she could not handle seeing her suffer.

She shared that the past 15 years have been nothing but hard for her because she even lives in an environment that is not wheelchair friendly and the hospital have said nothing to her and having to work a 10 hour shift where she is seated for that long.

The post shared by Zandi gained traction and people started mentioning the hospital page in hopes of getting at least an explanation and a way forward.

With all the mentioning, it looks like Akhona will finally get the help she needs because the Minister of Western Cape Government Health and Wellness Mireille Williams reached out to them and promised to help as she is aware of Akhona’s case.
