With the last season of Adulting wrapped up, actress Samkelo Ndlovu felt nostalgic as she bids her character of Minkie an emotional farewell.
With over 13 years of acting experience on her belt, Samkelo is renowned for characters she portrayed on Generations and Rhythm City. She recently played the character of Minkie, a girl who came across as crazy as she exuded personalities of a ‘street girl’ with her okapi knife, bright make up and chewing her gum loudly.
Samkelo played alongside Nhlanhla Kunene, Luthando BU Mthembu, Thembinkosi Mthembu and Nandi Nyembe showcasing their acting prowess in a riveting storyline that followed four male friends on their journey to find love and success in modern-day South Africa. As they navigate the treacherous currents of adulthood, they turn to each other for support.
Recently, the former Queendom actress took to her Instagram page to share a glimpse of her on set before and after shooting. With four clips she posted, she had picture one and two against each other as a form of comparison between her first time before she shot her scenes of Minkie and the last day of her shooting Minkie. In three and four, she shared the first and the last day of shooting her scenes on Adulting set.
Samkelo first joined the series on the second season as Tsiki-Tsiki’s girlfriend, who was portrayed by one of the fan-favourites, Nhlanhla.
On the caption she expressed her gratitude to her fellow cast members, the crew and creators of the show.
“I bow out with a full heart, knowing wherever Minkie is: she knows I told her story with my entire heart. I’m gonna miss you crazy girl. A special shout out and immense thank you to my wordsmith of a friend, my languages muse Xola Xaba,” she penned.
She also extended her gratitude to her close friends and her boyfriend for supporting and encouraging her through hard times.
