The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has published the official fuel price adjustments that will take effect at midnight on Tuesday, 4 February.

January saw both the global price of petrol increase and the rand come in weaker relative to December 2024, leading to an under-recovery in prices.
Sadly, this has translated into a hefty price hike at the pumps, marking the fourth consecutive month of increases.

FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS:
1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices
2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products
Oil price
At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $74.97 a barrel.
Exchange rate
At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R18.75/$.
South Africa’s motorists are urged to fill up today before the price increases take effect.
The next fuel price adjustment will take effect from Tuesday, 4 March.
