The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has confirmed the official fuel price adjustments that will take effect at midnight on Tuesday, 1 April 2025.

March saw a drop in global oil prices as markets reacted to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs and trade wars.
In addition, the rand held firm amid the shocks.
This translated to a sizeable – and welcome – cut in fuel prices in April.
Prices will be cut by 58 and 72 cents per litre for 93 and 95 petrol, respectively, and between 84 and 86 cents per litre for diesel.

FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS:
1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices
2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products

At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $74.76 a barrel.
Exchange rate
At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R18.35/$.
