FormerKaizer Chiefsstriker Collins Mbesuma says Ranga Chivavironeeds to ‘fix’ his attitude towards supporters when he scores goals.
The 32-year-old striker has scored four goals across all competitions for Amakhosi but has often faced jeers from fans. After scoring three times in the first four matches, the former Marumo Gallants man went through a rough patch which led to Nasreddine Nabito bench him.
Two weeks ago he scored a last minute against his former team to salvage a draw. Mbesuma says Kaizer Chiefs supporters will continue to boo Ranga if he keeps misssing chances.
“I think he should fix his attitude towards the supporters when he performs very well by scoring,” Mbesuma told FARPost.
“As a striker, your main job is to score goals. If you keep on missing those chances, the supporters become frustrated, and they will boo you.
“There is a match [against SuperSport United], he was booed. Later on, he scored, and his celebration was directed to the supporters. As a professional, you shouldn’t do that,” said the ex-Zambian international.
Mbesuma gives advice to Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro
“Players should have a strong relationship with supporters. Those are the people who can make your career or completely destroy it. They can help you build a good reputation as well.” Mbesuma said.
Many fans have likened Chavaviro’s treatment to that of Kingston Nkhatha. The former Zimbabwean international was heavily booed by Khosi fans during his time at Naturena. Whenever he scored a goal, he would act in a similar fashion to Chivaviro.
Mbesuma however feels that Ranga should focus on scoring and not respond to criticism from some Kaizer Chiefs fans.
Do you agree with Mbesuma? should Ranga remain mum?
