Kaizer Chiefs have signed striker Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport however it appears some fans are unhappy with the club’s decision.
The 30-year-old has scored just two goals for Matsatsantsa this season and with Amakhosi’s strikers firing blanks, many are questioning how Morris can change that.
Amakhosi legend Doctor Khumalo says it’s too early to judge the former Cape Town City star. He believes that the Kaizer Cheifs incoming striker can surprise many this second half of the season. It was Morris who scored the only goal that gave SuperSport a 1-0 win over the Soweto giants.
“I’d like to believe that we don’t have to be harsh or look at the journey of the boy and think that he might not make it,” said Khumalo on SABC’s Soccerzone.
“He might surprise us because there are so many players that are in other teams, a [Thalente] Mbatha for that matter, that comes from SuperSport [United] to Pirates and here he is in the national team.
Kaizer Chiefs fans not happy with new striker
“So, Morris, I like him because he is an outright striker, he does things simply, he doesn’t like to complicate things and only if they can give him what we call suppliers because if you don’t have those people then what’s the use of getting a striker,” said the Kaizer Chiefs legend.
Amakhosi are yet to unveil Morris but Matsatsantsa coach Gavin Huntconfirmed that the 30-year-old has left for Chiefs in a swap deal that also involved Christian Saile.
What are you expectations of Morris?
