Bafana Bafanahead coach Hugo Broos has had his say on Kaizer Chiefs star Gaston Sirino joining the national team.
The 33-year-old Uruguayan forward has been one of the league’s best players since arriving in South Africa six years ago. Upon Broos’ appointment, calls were made to include Sirino in the Bafana setup once he was eligible.
Since joining Amakhosi in August, the South American has rediscovered the form he showed at Mamelodi Sundowns. Broos however said this week that the Kaizer Chiefs forward was not in his plans.
“I know that Sirino is a very good player and I know also he can be very important for Chiefs, but he is not really the player I want,” Broos said as quoted by Hollywoodbets.

“Secondly, he is also (33 years old), I think. I looked for months to have somebody else than Themba because he was old at that time and I couldn’t go and take another older player.
“I want to find younger players than Sirino even though he is a good player,” Broos said.
Sirino has scored two goals and assisted three times for Kaizer Chiefs this season already. He has been one of the league’s best signings having turned Amakhosi’s fortunes around under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Broos has made it clear that the Kaizer Chiefs star is not part of his plans going forward. More great performances for the Uruguayan might force the Belgian coach to reconsider his decision perhaps.
