Have Kaizer Chiefs given ‘under fire’ Nasreddine Nabi enough time?

Kaizer Chiefs management is reportedly unsettled over Nasreddine Nabi’s progress.

Entering this season, the Glamour Boys hoped to shake off their worst campaign in its history, finishing tenth under Cavin Johnson’s command, who was swiftly fired and replaced by Nabi in the offseason.

Nineteen league games and over fourteen signings later, Kaizer Chiefs are mimicking last season, sitting in eighth, closer on points to fifteen than second.

Their record reads eight losses, seven wins, and four draws, painting a bleak picture for what has been a topsy-turvy campaign, beating the likes of Stellenbosch and Sekhukhune United before enduring a 4-1 hammering at the hands of SuperSport United.

Fire or keep?

Soccer is a results business, which is evident by the savagery of the industry where clubs hire and fire multiple times in a season, hoping that their new man can emulate Pep Guardiola with a quarter of the budget.

That’s rarely the case, and globally, hundreds of managers are let go throughout the year—should Nasreddine Nabi be next?

Kaizer Chiefsare considering their managerial options but should, with a top-eight finish in sight, dissuade them from pulling the plug before the end of the season; instead, they should let the final standings influence the final decision.

SoccerLadumarecently reported on Kaizer Chiefs growing reluctance to keep Nabi, saying, “it’s getting hard and tougher for the management team now,

“It’s believed that they thought by now the results would have started to show as the coach came with high expectations, but things are not working according to plan,

“Apparently, that’s what is not making them happy. They don’t just want the team to play well. No. They want results and so far they have lost to the all so-called big teams,” the publication reported.

“That’s the other reason why management is not happy so as they feel they have given him enough time to show what he can do for the team. They think and believe that they have a great squad which can easily compete and be up there among Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates,

“Because they are failing to do that, it’s why management is dissatisfied and unhappy with the results and the coach right now.”

Should Kaizer Chiefs fire Nabi?
