Monnapule Salenghas been released from the Bafana Bafana squad to rejoin Orlando Pirates.

The 26-year-old winger played his first game in three months when he represented the national team in the CHAN qualifiers. Saleng has been frozen out by Pirates since early December and has not seen playing with the team for months.

That appears to have been changing. Bafana Bafana B coach Molefi Ntseki has released four players, which includes Pirates’ Monnapule Saleng.

“So, what we did when we got to camp, we did a squad profile to see who is playing and who is better in which positions in terms of our approach,” Ntseki told SAFA.com.

“With us doing that, we also worked on the structure. We realized that after the game in Bloemfontein, there are certain positions that we needed to reinforce, especially with us having to go and play Egypt in Egypt.

Monnapule Saleng could feature for Pirates again

“So, we have released a few of our players that came to camp last week. We have brought in a few of the players in terms of the squad balance. We had to thank them by releasing these players back to their clubs.”

The Buccaneers are in action this weekend in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. It remains to be seen if Monnapule Saleng will make a cameo on Saturday for Pirates. The winger last featured for the club in December against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

Can Saleng make a comeback or will he be benched once more by the club?
