Kaizer Chiefs have brought in three senior signings and promoted Naledi Hlongwane from the DDC side. Here are the details.
Kaizer Chiefs’ new players and their crucial contract details
Tashreeq Morris
The 30-year-old journeyman striker has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Naturena until June 30, 2027. Morris has previously represented Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune and most recently SuperSport.
Glody Lilepo
The 27-year-old winger has 11 caps for Congo and one goal. He has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal. The deal includes an option for a further season. He’s most comfortable operating in the wide right channel. Under the legendary Florent Ibenge, Lilepo bagged five goals in 10 Caf Champions League outings although Lilepo’s move to France’s Ligue 1 resulted in relegation in his first campaign there.
Valenciennes was happy to do business with offers in the region of €500,00 or R9.6 million. Lilepo has seven goals and five assists in 46 games across all competitions for his current employers and a single goal from 11 caps for DR Congo. The player has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Chiefs, while third-tier French outfit Valenciennes face financial difficulties and pressure to sell their assets. They had to succumb to that pressure.
Thabo Cele
The 26-year-old midfield orchestrator has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal and included an option for an additional year.
Naledi Hlongwane
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly handed a three-year contract to teenage DDC striker Naledi Hlongwane. Big things are expected from yet another of Chiefs’ talented youth products.
“What I can tell you now is that the promotion process is as good as done. They have already allocated jersey number 35 to him and he travelled with the team to Durban for the game against Sekhukhune United. He was supposed to have played the game but they changed their mind at the last minute,” the SL source stated on SoccerLaduma.
