Four key Kaizer Chiefs players on the brink of exits

Kaizer Chiefs will likely release four senior players at the end of the current Betway Premiership campaign. Here’s the latest.

Chiefd quartet on the chopping board

According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs will let go of a quartet of senior fringe players in June 2025.

“The situation is a bit tricky for Edson (Castillo) now. At first, they had offered to extend his contract but then things changed after his injury, with the player also expressing the desire to leave after his contract runs out. That’s almost the same situation with Ranga (Chivaviro).

“The club had shown an interest to renew his contract at the start of the season but things are changing bit by bit due to his dwindling form at the moment. As for Edmilson Dove and George Matlou, they renewed for one year at the start of the season until June 2025 and it seems that’s the end of the road for them. But the club is busy right now discussing the futures of all these players and by the end of January we would know who is staying and who is going though it’s clear for others,” said a source.

Kaizer Chiefs could snap up Oswin Appollis

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe is delighted that Thabang Matuludi and Oswin Appollis are still with the team but he sounds resigned to the fact that they’ll move on to bigger things:

“I’m more than happy to still have them in the team because they are the core, and they are the most important players for us, even though those guys are touting for them”.

“So I think it’s a blessing in disguise for Polokwane City to still have them. And as for how long they are going to be with us, that one, I don’t know. That one, I don’t know, but I just so wish that they can still be with us for another season.”
