In December, most fans had already forgotten about Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango.
Last season, the 27-year-old former TS Galaxy star was wearing the armband for Amakhosi however, he found himself on the bench with the introduction of Nasreddine Nabi. The Tunisian coach opted the centre pairing of Miguel Inacio and Rushwin Dortley.
Miguel’s suspensions meant Msimango found himself starting matches and with Dortley’s injury, the tall defender became a permanent figure in the Kaizer Chiefs defence for the remainder of the season.
“Personally, I’m in a good space, I’ve been putting in the hard work on and off the pitch,” Msimango told FARPost.
“And I feel confident in my contribution to the team. It’s always about improving and staying consistent. I believe the focus is starting to show in my performances. I’m just looking forward to maintaining strong performances.”
Kaizer Chiefs defender shift his eyes on Chippa
Having overcome Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend, Msimango shift his focus to Chippa United. Amakhosi play the Chilli Boys on Saturday in Gqeberha. The Soweto giants are looking to finish in the top 8.
“Chippa United are a very competitive side, very structured and disciplined. We’ve faced them before in the league, and we came out victorious. We faced them in the cup as well; we managed to get one over them,” he added.
“But that doesn’t take away that we demand or we expect full concentration from the guys. We’ve studied them [Chippa] again, and we are ready to match their energy and intensity on the day,” said the Kaizer Chiefs defender.
