It’s no secret that Kaizer Chiefs are desperate to sign a reliable marksman who can get them double figures for goals, season on season.
Five major striker targets for Kaizer Chiefs
Fiston Mayele, top of the Kaizer Chiefs wish list
Reportedly, the 31-year-old’s current club Pyramids, wants to sign Sekhukhune’s 23-year-old striker Andy Boyeli. That move could potentially pave the way for Chiefs to pounce on Mayele. Mayele is renowned for his finishing ability, scoring 31 times and bagging seven assists in 69 appearances for the club.
Yanela Mbuthuma
23-year-old Richards Bay striker Yanela Mbuthuma is a viable target to bolster Amakhosi’s frontline. He has four goals and an assist from 20 league appearances this term. Not shabby for a side struggling against relegation. However, Orlando Pirates are also keen on the youngster.
Muzomuhle Khanyi
26-year-old Muzomuhle Khanyi has been causing a stir in the NFD, scoring goals for fun. He recently bagged a treble to further enhance his reputation as one of the best potential bargain deals available on the market.
Michael Olunga
31-year-old Olunga has played for Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, Swedish side Djurgardens, Spanish LaLiga’s Girona, Chinese outfit Hengfeng, Kashiwa Reysol from Japan’s J-League and Qatari club Al-Duhail SC. To say he’s Kenya’s greatest is probably an understatement, but perhaps brother duo Victor Wanyama and McDonald Mariga would like a word. Chiefs are considering an ambitious move for the man valued at R180 million, but his wage demands and signing-on fee will likely be prohibitive.
Are Chiefs plotting an audacious move for the Kenyan legend?
Dzenan Zajmovic
30-year-old Bosnian star Dzenan Zajmovic has been a late bloomer in his career. However, 2024-2025 season numbers of eight goals and three assists in 22 Betway Premiership appearances are indicative of a guy who can do a job in South Africa’s PSL. Only Sundowns pair Iqraam Rayners and Lucas Ribeiro Costa have scored more than the 1.90m tall marksman this term. His record of a direct goal contribution every other game has raised a few eyebrows.
