Just like people, cats have dietary needs and preferences. Here are a handful of foods to NEVER feed to your furry friends.
Five foods you should NEVER give to your cats
Chocolate isn’t good for dogs or cats
Chocolate is toxic to cats because of its theobromine and caffeine content. These can cause symptoms like seizures and even heart failure. Dark chocolate is especially dangerous. Contact a vet immediately if your cat happens to consume any type of chocolate.
Milk and other dairy products
Like many humans, kitties love milk but are severely lactose intolerant. Consuming any dairy products can give cats diarrhoea and stomach issues, so let’s just avoid that, shall we?
Grapes
Grapes are a delicious beach snack for humans, but they can cause kidney failure in cattos. Keep these in your picnic basket/fridge and away from the family feline friends.
Onions and garlic
Onions and garlic can damage a cat’s red blood cells. Symptoms may include lethargy and pale gums.
Dog food
Dog food lacks the essential nutrients that cats need. Opt rather for feline-specific diets designed to meet their needs. Besides, they’re usually fussy customers and are unlikely to eat dog food anyways.
