With the offseason window edging ever closer, clubs are ramping up their efforts to sign the next best thing, a player who could prove the difference in their quest for a trophy, from the MTN8 Cup to the PSL.
Who’s moving where?
- Orlando Pirates have joined Kaizer Chiefs in the race for Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele. The Congolese striker recently broke the Buccaneer’s hearts in the Champions League semi-final with his second leg brace.
- Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly placed a R100 million price tag on Lucas Ribeiro Costa, who has interest from French side LOSC Lille.
- Monnapule Saleng’s future in Soweto remains a mystery, but the current signs are pointing towards a PSL exit as he continues to be left out of matchday squads.
- AmaZulu midfielder, arguably the league’s most sought-after attacker, is wanted by Sundowns, Pirates and Cheifs.
Mayele latest
The Buccaneers’ interest in Mayele – a long-term target for AmaKhosi – comes days after their Champions League encounter. According to reports, the 30-year-old is entertaining PSL offers.
“Mayele’s camp is testing the waters and trying to see if Pirates are willing to make a concrete move. Given the current situation, both in terms of Pirates’ need for a proven striker and Mayele’s availability, this could be a very real transfer possibility,” a source revealed.
“It’s no secret that Pirates are in the market for a reliable goal-scorer, and after what Mayele did to them on the continental stage, it’s clear he could be that guy.”
