One of mzansi’s most decorated artists Leslie Mampe is now making steady progress after a year of being out of the limelight to focus on his health.
The rapper, best known by his stage name, DA LES, took a break from the industry after suffering a stroke on the night of his 39th birthday in July last year. Soon after the incident occurred friends of the “North God” made attempts to raise funds to ensure that he received proper medical care as reports later emerged that he did not have medical aid.
Last month his family shared a statement on the progress of his recovery, adding: “Da L.E.S is incredibly thankful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from his fans, friends and everyone who has reached out. He will continue to update everyone on his healing process and appreciates all the continued encouragement.”
He has since relocated to the U.S. where he is currently under the care of his mother and by the looks of it, appears to be back to his old self.
The “Lifestyle” rapper recently took to the social media app TikTok where he is currently entertaining his fans by posting several short and funny video skits.

Those in the comment section have praised his sense of humour, while others wished him well on the road to recovery.
“That’s just how it goes! North Gawd in the flesh! Keep fighting!” commented one user, while another wrote, “Glad to see you getting better.”
