Fagrie Lakay on target, Olwethu Makhanya sees red

Fagrie Lakay was on target for the first time in the Egyptian Premier League, netting a goal for Ceramica Cleopatra FC. Meanwhile, fellow South African Olwethu Makhanya saw red during the MLS Next Pro playoffs final while playing for Philadelphia Union.

Lakay is currently on loan from another Egyptian top-flight side,Pyramids FC. He joined Cleopatra at the beginning of the season in search of more game time.

The 27-year-old scored the only goal of the match on Saturday as his side defeated Ismaily FC 1-0 at Arab Contractors Stadium. For his great displays, Lakay was named the Man of the Match.

On the other side, Olwethu Makhanya was shown a straight red card in the 75th minute as Philadelphia Union suffered a 3-2 defeat on Sunday morning against North Texas in the final. In the playoffs, the 20-year-old made four appearances and scored two goals.

SHANDRE CAMPBELL AND PERCY TAU FAIL TO IMPRESS

Rising starlet Shandre Campbell was in action for Club NXT in the league on Saturday. NXT won 2-1 away from home. The SA Under-20 winger didn’t score or provide an assist. Meanwhile, Darren Smith was introduced as a substitute for his side, Inter Turku, on Saturday. They lost 2-1 away from home against Haka FC in the league.

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau came in late for Al Ahly on Thursday as they defeated ZED 1-0 on Friday away from home in a league encounter. Siyabonga Ngezana played the entire 90 minutes as his side, FCSB, defeated FC Universitatea Cluj 2-1 on Sunday evening away from home. Attacker Gift Links grabbed an assist as his side, Aarhus GF, drew 1-1 against FC Copenhagen at home on Sunday in a league tie.

Before that, Links netted a crucial winner to take AGF Aarhus to the semi-final of the Danish Cup last Thursday night. His team won 3-2 victory against Skive.

Another attacker, Mihlali Mayambela, started the match and played 45 minutes for Aris Limassol as they defeated Anorthosis Famagusta 3-0 on Saturday at home in the league. Luke le Roux played the full match at home for IFK Värnamo on Sunday as they drew 0-0 against IF Elfsborg in the league as well.

SIMON VAN DUIVENBOODEN STILL WITHOUT A GOAL

Winger Elias Mokwana didn’t make a great impact for Esperance on Saturday as they won 2-1 against AS Gabes in the league. Mokwana was introduced in the 88th minute. Simon van Duivenbooden also featured for Vitesse on Friday as they lost 2-0 at home against ADO Den Haag in the Dutch second-tier league. Van Duivenbooden is yet to score this season in six league matches.

Meanwhile, Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad AC played out to a 2-2 draw on Saturday evening at home against Ittihad Tanger in the Moroccan top-flight. Cassius Mailula featured for Wydad, but didn’t score or provide an assist.

In addition, Mosimane grabbed his first victory at home as they defeated Mes Rafsanjan 1-0 in the Iran Pro League on Saturday in the league. The narrow win saw the former Al Ahly coach end his three-match losing streak. He also saw his side keep their first clean sheet. The Famous Royal Blues climbed to 10th on the log standings with 11 points after 10 matches played.
