The Spaniard leaves Pirates after a successful three-year stay at the club where he won five cups.

“No, never,” said Riveiro during the post-match conference at Orlando Stadium when he was asked if he will ever consider another PSL club.

“Once Always, I will never coach any other team in SA, Ama Buccaneer.

“Orlando Pirates is the only club that I could have the motivation and the courage and energy, and the heart in this case to coach in the country, no doubt,” he added.

Pirates gave Riveiro a perfect send off when they hammered Arrows 3-0 at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

Goals from Tshegofatso Mabasa, Bandile Shandu and Kabelo Dlamini made sure Riveiro’s swansong was extra special.

Fans on the stands carried placards and banners with special goodbye messages. One of the banners was written in Spanish and it read: “Muchas Gracias Padre José Riveiro Por Siempre Una Leyenda”, loosely translated, “Many Thanks Father Jose Riveiro Forever a Legend”.

Riveiro set to join Al-Ahly

According to reports, Riveiro is set to replace Marcel Koller as the new head coach of Al-Ahly.

The Spaniard gave a diplomatic answer when asked where he will be headed next after leaving the Buccaneers.

“To be honest with you, I wish [I can tell you] but I can’t. You know these things of confidentiality and stuff like that, so it’s not me who has the responsibility to announce such a thing.

“But it’s [the announcement about his next club] going to be very soon. I think that everybody will be understanding and hopefully happy for me and wishing me all the best,” he said.

Riveiro has no regrets about leaving the Buccaneers after a successful stay at the Soweto giants.

“Regrets? No, I don’t have any regrets. I gave everything I have. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes in many different situations, but I did everything with heart, I did everything to the best of my capacity and I always put myself as the last one in the queue. I tried to work hard for my players and the club so there’s no regrets,” he said.
