Ex-Dondol Stars coach on why he left PSL side for amateur club

Ex-Dondol Stars FC head coach Khuliso Rashamuse has detailed why he decided to leave a PSL team and join a club in the ABC Motsepe League.

This comes after Rashamuse was appointed as the new head coach of the SAFA Free State ABC Motsepe League outfit Dikgosi FC. He replaced coach Tshegofatso Mashego, who was shown the exit door by the club.

Rashamuse recently vacated his position as Venda FC assistant coach amicably in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

He was at the Limpopo club for eight months with coach Duncan Lechesa, who has now moved to Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership.

Rashamuse is no stranger in the SA football third tier, having served at teams like Mikhado FC, Blackpool, Pretoria Callies and the now-defunct Dondol Stars.

WHY COACH KHULISO RASHAMUSE DECIDED TO JOIN DIKGOSI FC IN THE ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE

Rashamuse stated that it was the right time to look for a new opportunity after deciding to leave Venda FC following the departure of coach Lechesa, whom he had developed a close relationship with.

He continued by explaining that this decision is mainly about gaining knowledge and understanding different football styles in other regions.

“You know, sometimes it’s important to give yourself enough experience to see how football is played in different provinces,” Rashamuse told FARPost.

“For me, it’s more about learning because I have coached in other provinces like Gauteng [Dondol FC] and Limpopo [Mikhado FC] and made it to the national playoffs two times.

“Even when you’re in the PSL environment, there are many things that you learn. Football is a teacher; you learn new things every day. We get to see our loopholes and where we are lacking, and we get to improve our weaknesses.”

Rashamuse continued: “I still aspire to go back to the PSL. If another chance comes, I will take it. Remember, I was not fired from Venda FC; we parted ways amicably. This happened because coach Duncan Lechesa left. I have grown very fond of him, so I decided to leave with the coach.”
