SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Ngwaabe City Motors has roped in ex-Baroka FC mentor Matsemela Thoka for the 2024/25 campaign.
Thoka has been without a job since parting ways with Moroka Swallows DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] earlier this year.
He served at Bakgaga as an assistant coach under coaches like Wedson Nyirenda and Dylan Kerr and later as a head coach. He also coached in the club’s development structures.
In July 2022, he then joined Marumo Gallants’DDC side, ending his 15 years of marriage with Baroka.
Thoka has already hit the ground running in the SA football third tier with City Motors over the weekend. The club started the season on a rough patch, losing all their four opening league matches.
MATSEMELA THOKA STARTS HIS TENURE AT NGWAABE CITY MOTORS ON POSITIVE NOTE
He was in charge of City Motors’ league match on Saturday against P&S Academy at home in Stream B. The game ended with a 3-1 scoreline in favour of Thoka-coached side. This was the club’s first win of the season.
As things stand, City Motors are placed 10th in Stream B with three points after five matches. In those five games, they lost four and won one.
Thoka will be expected to turn the club’s misfortunes from now on and hopefully fight for the title honours, having shown a glimpse of what he can do with the team over the weekend.
City Motors wouldn’t want to find themselves in a situation where they will be fighting to survive relegation in the provincial ABC Motsepe League when the season comes to an end.
NGWAABE CITY MOTORS’ NEXT ASSIGNMENT IN THE LIMPOPO ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE
The club’s next league fixture will be against Mokopane PJ Stars away from home on Friday, 15 November 2024.
The match between City Motors and Mokopane PJ Stars will take place at Mahwelereng Stadium in Mokopane. The kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
