From Barcelona FC to Kaizer Chiefs, news travels fast.

Although located on different continents, both clubs have an interest in Bafana stars, namely Relehobile Mofokeng, who has caught the Spanish giant’s attention, and Khanyisa Mayo, the son of a former Kaizer Chiefs legend, Patrick, who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Rumours confirmed

Mofokeng already has European interest, but none is bigger than Barcelona, with twenty-seven La Ligas and five Champions Leagues to their illustrious name.

“There have been enquiries from Barcelona on Relebohile Mofokeng,” a Siya source confirmed.

Before adding that, “the boy has been monitored by the coaches of the Barcelona B team with interest. They have been following him and made approaches with some of their contacts in the PSL, including certain coaches they know closely, asking about the player.

“He is a player with potential to play in some of the top leagues in Europe and the feedback has been positive on the enquires made.”

Mayo, who signed to CR Belouizdad during the offseason, was approached by Kaizer Chiefs but had their bid rejected, opening the door for the Algerian giants.

When asked whether he would like to emulate his father’s career, he said, regarding Chiefs, yes, if I ever think about coming back home, they will be my first preference,” he told KickOff.

“It’s the biggest team in South Africa, and my dad played there. So, I also see myself representing one of the top teams in the country,” Mayo concluded.
