Eskom to implement 21-hour power outage in Cape Town

Eskom has scheduled planned maintenance which will result in a nine-hour power outage over three days in parts of Cape Town, Western Cape.

The maintenance is scheduled from Monday, 17 February, to Wednesday, 19 February, from 9:00 – 18:00.

ESKOM CONFIRMS PLANNED POWER OUTAGE IN CAPE TOWN

The power utility said it will be conducting planned maintenance on the network, resulting in power supply interruptions daily.

Affected suburbs include Table View, Rivergate Business Park, Parklands, and surrounding areas.

Earlier this month, Eskom also conducted planned maintenance in Table View, Parklands, Milnerton and surrounding areas.

“Eskom in the Western Cape conducts planned maintenance on the distribution electricity network across the province as part of its maintenance plan. Maintenance needs to be conducted to service the infrastructure to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the electricity supply.”

MORE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR PARTS OF THE MOTHER CITY

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town Water and Sanitation Directorate will also conduct planned maintenance work which will result in water supply disruption from Tuesday, 18 February. ,

The water supply to in Bethal Street and Avignon Security Estate in Hout Bay will be shut off temporarily, from 8:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 18 February.

 Likewise, the water supply to the area along Govan Mbeki Drive between Wetton Circle and Hanover Park Avenue, including the Lansdowne Corner Shopping Mall, the Astron Service Station, as well as the vicinity of Fynn Close will be shut off from 8:00 until 22:00 on Thursday, 20 February, to connect the newly-installed pipeline to the existing water supply infrastructure.
