Centre-back Siyabonga Ngezanahas made a massive impact since joining Romanian giants FCSB last season and could leave.
Despite a slow start in Romania, Ngezana went from near flop to one of the best players in the league. In fact, barely six months into the chapter at FCSB, he was already being linked with moves to France and Turkey. He was making team of the week selections on a regular basis as well. In the end all of that resulted in two big awards.
Ngezana won big in Romania
Ngezana went on to win Defender of the Year as well as Foreign Player of the Year in the Romania. Following that success, more European interest has followed him. On Tuesday, this publication reported that clubs in England and Italy are ready to bid for him. They’re Birmingham City in the English Championship, as well as Lecce in the Italian Serie A.
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, citing Romanian a publication, both clubs are willing to offer R96 million for Ngezana!
“Siyabonga Ngezana’s future at FCSB is currently uncertain, with the South African defender reportedly attracting interest from clubs across Europe. According to sources in Romania, Italian Serie A side Lecce and English Championship club Birmingham are both keen on acquiring Ngezana’s services. The two clubs are said to be willing to offer a sum of €5,000,000 (±R96 million) to secure the 27-year-old’s signature.
Birmingham and Lecce to offer R96 million?
The South African’s contract with FCSB runs until the end of 2027, which gives the Romanian club leverage in any potential negotiations. However, the reported offers from Lecce and Birmingham could be a tempting proposition for both Ngezana and FCSB. It remains to be seen how negotiations will unfold in the coming period, and whether either of these clubs will succeed in luring Ngezana away from Romania.” Wrote the publication.
