EFF claps back at Elon Musk over comments on Malema

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says South African-born tech billionaire Elon Musk must go to hell after he called for the party’s leader Julius Malema to be declared an international criminal.

This comes as Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to share old videos of Malema talking about white farmers including one where he sings the controversial struggle song ‘Kill the Boer’.

EFF RESPONDS TO ELON MUSK

The call happened just days after US President Donald Trump, who is advised by Musk, cut funding to South Africa on assertions that the country was “confiscating” land and “doing terrible things”.

The newly signed act says the government may, in certain circumstances, offer “nil compensation” for property it deems necessary to seize in the public interest, but only after attempts to reach an agreement on compensation with the owner.

At the weekend, Musk took to X to question why Ramaphosa is not taking action against Malema “for calling for the genocide of white people”.

In another post he called for sanctions against Malema and for the firebrand politician to be declared an international criminal.

“Immediate sanctions for Malema and declaration of him as an international criminal!” he captioned a video shared on X.

In response, the EFF said itself and all people who have been at the yolk of oppression perpetuated by the USA and its allies are bound to naturally be the quintessential enemies of billionaires who capture states and manipulate narratives, and misuse their control of governments to cast aspersions against their natural enemies.

The party said Elon Musk and all of his allies, in the USA, in Israel, and the right-wing groups in South Africa which have mobilised Musk, to go to hell.

“The principle remains that equality in South Africa is rooted in the return of the land to African people, which will be achieved through expropriation without compensation. Additionally, the EFF makes a firm commitment that Elon Musk’s Starlink will never operate in South Africa, without complying to local legislation which demands that there must be 30% local ownership.

“The offense that Musk has made against the leader of the EFF constitutes meddling in our domestic affairs which we do not take lightly, and he must be viewed as an imperialist who seeks to undermine the economic and political sovereignty of South Africa through sanctions, and is part of mischievous attempts to sever relations between South Africa and the United States of America.

“The EFF declares Elon Musk as an enemy of South Africa, and a capturer of governance in the USA who will lead to that nation’s downfall. All progressive nations, including Russia, China, India, and all African states ought to isolate and reject all enterprises pursued by Elon Musk in their nations,” the party said.

NOT THE FIRST TIME THE TWO CLASHED

In 2023, Malema went head to head with the Tesla and SpaceX founderafter he [Musk] condemned Malema’s insistence on chanting the apartheid struggle song, Kill The Boer.

Malema then went on to call the businessman “illiterate” and “racist”. Things quieted down between the pair and in January 2024 Musk referred to Malema as a “genocidal lunatic” after watching the EFF leader deliver a speech about how “killing is part of a revolution”.
