Gospel singer Dr Rebecca Malope takes a career turn as she dabbles in the fashion industry.
The renowned ‘Queen of Gospel’ is now a fashion designer, who is set to take the industry by storm with her unique textiles and designs.
According to news publication, IOL, Dr Rebecca announced that she would be channelling her “Nara Smith” era by making her clothes from scratch instead of buying them at the local retailers.
Speaking to the news publication on upskilling herself, she said, “Don’t give up, it’s not too late to learn something new. Look at me, I learnt how to make my clothes. Now I am not buying clothes anymore, I sit down and make them.”
Entertainment publication, ZiMoja adds that, she won’t be hanging up her mic but rather venturing into other things.
She said: “People know I love my shiny dresses and suits and as time goes on, maintaining a look becomes expensive even for us artists.”
She adde: “You always need to look good and not repeat clothes, so I decided to teach myself how to make my clothes.”
She later noted that she learnt to sew garments through streaming platforms such as YouTube, as they helped her upskill herself and learn more about fashion designing and the processes needed to be able to put together a fashionable piece.
Dr Rebecca has since been rocking her designs since making garments, where she shared them with the public.
