Kaizer Chiefs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung turned a year older, and social media has been abuzz with warm birthday messages.
With an illustrious career spanning years, Dr Kaizer Motaung has quickly become one of the most celebrated football administrators in South Africa.
ORLANDO PIRATES LEGEND KAIZER MOTAUNG CELEBRATES 80TH BIRTHDAY
The celebrated football administrator is also credited for co-founding the South African Premier League (PSL) with Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza.
Despite his popularity and huge following, Dr. Kaizer Motaung has managed to keep his age under wraps, leaving many to guess.
However, The South Africanhas since connected the dots about his age on his birthday. Taking to Instagram, Chiefs penned a heartfelt birthday message to Kaizer Motaung.
No doubt the post has since gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped on the internet.
Fans, players and clubs were quick to flood their feeds with birthday wishes.
Orlando Pirates also took to social media to celebrate Kaizer Motaung, who has a legendary status with the Sea Robbers.
Taking to the picture-sharing app, Orlando Pirates posted, “Happy 80th Birthday to @orlandopirates legend and @kcfcofficial Chairman, Dr Kaizer “Chincha Guluva” Motaung!”
The club also revealed Kaizer Motaung’s age. The 80-year-old football administrator was born on 16 October 1944 in Soweto, South Africa.
No doubt, his age left many puzzled. Others were more than convinced that Motaung was fit as a fiddle.
RISE TO FAME
He started his career with Orlando Pirates. His flair and command of the game attracted transfer offers from European clubs.
In the backdrop of his newfound fame, he joined Atlanta Chiefs in the MSL. He had an impressive stint, scoring 32 goals in 64 appearances.
Dr Kaizer Motaung was offered an improved contract but turned it down. He returned to South Africa and started his club, Kaizer Chiefs.
Years later, Kaizer Chiefs has fast become one the biggest clubs in Africa.
Upon his return to South Africa, he co-founded the SouthAfrican Premier League (PSL) with Irvin Khoza in 1996.
The PSL helped to attract more sponsors and money to South African professional soccer.
Over the years, Dr Kaizer Motaung has been involved in football politics across all verticals through several positions, which include:

- SA World Cup Bid Committee
