Dineo Langa claims to be a traditional healer

Media personality Anele Mdoda and actress-singer Dineo Langa recently engaged in a thought-provoking exchange on X (formerly Twitter) that ignited conversation around sangomas, spiritual consultations, and how people approach healing.

It all began when Anele posed an open-ended question.

“I have a question. Have you ever gone to a Sangoma and they consult and say no man you are good, just make better life choices and stop drinking or sleeping around or put the onus on you to better your life?”

Dineo Langa, who is known for her transparency around spiritual matters, replied candidly: “No one goes to a healer when things are going well in their lives.”

Anele challenged the generalization, saying she personally visits a healer annually for cleansing, regardless of life circumstances.

“I go once a year to cleanse whether it’s good or bad. I think saying no one is a big assumption.”

In response, Dineo clarified that her view was based on observation, not assumption.

“Me and my healer peers mostly see people whose lives are in shambles. Not an assumption, an observation.”

Anele, still curious, asked Dineo, whom she referred to as a healer herself, if she’d ever seen someone who simply had no spiritual issues.

Dineo acknowledged such cases but noted they are rare:

“Yes, and it’s usually followed by ‘there are small things to fix’… I call them unicorn clients cause abantu don’t follow itreatment then they cry.”

The respectful back-and-forth opened up a broader conversation among followers about spiritual responsibility, discipline, and the expectations placed on traditional healers.

While some users agreed with Dineo’s perspective based on their own experiences, others aligned with Anele’s take on proactive spiritual maintenance.
