Orlando Pirates have reportedly identified their “next” Relebohile Mofokeng in an exciting young talent from Bloemfontein.

With Mofokeng, who is 20 years old, expected to leave the Buccaneers at the end of the season, the club may not need to search elsewhere.

Instead, 17-year-old winger Rethabile Ramontoeli has stood out during the 2025 Pirates Cup and could be poised to replace Mofokeng by season’s end, according to Soccer Laduma.

Rele Mofokeng set to leave Orlando Pirates

“There is an exciting player who has been signed by Orlando Pirates, and soon people will be talking about him. His name is Rethabile Ramontoeli and he plays as a winger and as an attacking midfielder. He is the next Relebohile Mofokeng, that one, i can promise you,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“Rethabile was one of the most exciting players at the 2025 Pirates Cup. He was scouted by James Mothibi, a former Pirates player himself, in Bloemfontein. Since then, he has made remarkable progress in a short space of time.”

Mofokeng has had a brilliant season for Orlando Pirates this season scoring 10 goals across all competitions. With the CAF Champions League, Nedbank Cup and Betway Premiership, the 20-year-old could win more silverware before moving abroad.

With Jose Riveiro leaving Pirates at the end of the season, Mofokeng might not flourish with the new coach coming. At the age of 20, this is the perfect time for him to leave the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and join a top European league.

Do you think Mofokeng will leave the Buccaneers at the end of the season?
