Kaizer Chiefs have announced three signings so far this window and are reportedly hungry to add more to their roster!
Due to Chiefs’ dire situation so far this season, it was expected that they attack the transfer window viciously.
Chiefs had a clear mission going into this transfer window, and that was to add quality and experience. Too often they have looked to their academy graduates in Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba, Mfundo Vilakazi and Samkelo Zwane. The lack of experience and leadership has often been exposed and cost the team cup progression and points.
Chiefs have signed three experienced players thus far
They have looked to address that with three signings. Amakhosi have announced the acquisitions of Glody Lilepo, Tashreeq Morris and Thabo Cele. Those being players that are either used to playing top flight football and international football. Now late last week this publication reported that Chiefs were trying to make another signing that fits that profile. This through a shock pursuit of former Orlando Piratesand now Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Thembinkosi Lorch.
According to Soccer-Laduma, Lorch is not in Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso’s plans. They have also given two scenarios where he can join Chiefs.
Two options of signing Lorch from Sundowns
“Lorch is understood to be one of the high earners at Chloorkop and Sundowns would still like to cash in on the player they signed in January last year from the Buccaneers. A loan move could be a possibility, which would come with an option to buy. Chiefs have signed a few players from Sundowns over the last few years, such as Sibusiso Khumalo, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro. If a move does not happen before the close of the window, Lorch is expected to make an exit at the end of the season, especially because the Tshwane giants could add more players to the squad going into the FIFA Club World Cup later this year.” Wrote the publication.
So Chiefs can either find common ground on a transfer fee with Sundowns in this window, or wait. Should they wait until the end of the season, they could get Lorch for free as he could see his deal terminated. Amakhosi fans, do you need the Bafana Bafana playmaker immediately? Or can you wait if it means getting him for free? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
