Orlando Pirates handed DDC champions Stellenbosch FC their second loss this season, while Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns picked up victories over the weekend.
Joseph Makhanya’s team – Pirates rallied from a 1-0 deficit to claim a 2-1 victory at Malta Park on Sunday morning. Quwan Plaatjies opened the scoring for Stellenbosch, but Mehluleli Maphumulo’s two goals ensured that Pirates took home all three points.
Despite the loss, the Cape Winelands team maintained their position at the top of the table, having amassed 20 points from 10 matches played thus far.
In other Sunday fixtures, Polokwane City FC earned three points with a 3-1 victory against the Marumo Gallants in a match held at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. The struggling Gallants remain the only side to have not won a match this season.
Additionally, Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy triumphed over Chippa United with a score of 2-1 at the Isak Steyl Stadium.
On Saturday, Chiefs emerged victorious with a 3-2 win against AmaZulu FCat Dobsonville Stadium, with goals from Matala Mkhubo, Neo Bohloko, and Vicky Mkhawana.
They currently hold second place with 20 points from nine matches played.
Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 3-0 victory over Golden Arrows, bouncing back after a draw in their previous match last week.
Masandawana occupy third place with 19 points from nine games.
Sekhukhune United were not in action this weekend due to the suspension of their opponents, Royal AM, by the PSL.
