Kaizer Chiefs claimed bragging rights in the DDC Soweto Derby, defeating Orlando Pirates on Saturday while SuperSport United secured a narrow victory over Sekhukhune United.
The clash between the two Soweto giants was initially scheduled for two weeks ago but was postponed due to severe weather conditions.
In a match that took place at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, Chiefs pulled off an incredible comeback, recovering from a 1-0 deficit to triumph 2-1 over the Joseph Makhanya-coached side.
Aden McCarthy and Nkosana Mbuthu found the back of the net for Chiefs, while Mmatlou’s lone strike wasn’t enough for Pirates.
The match began at a slow pace as both teams sized each other up.
As the match grew, it became an end-to-end staff with both teams attacking relentlessly in search of the opening goal.

SECOND HALF WITH MORE SPARK
In the second half, the Sea Robbers upped their gears somewhat, spurred on by their crowd as they sought break the deadlock.
Their relentless pressure finally yielded a breakthrough as Mmatlou Sepale capitalised on a deflected cross, slotting the ball into the far corner.
In the 76th minute, Chiefs were awarded a penalty when Nkosana Mbuthu was adjudged to have been fouled within the penalty area.
Aden McCarthy stepped up and rattled the back of the net to level the matters just three minutes after Orlando Pirates scored.
As both teams continued to knock, hoping for a late winner, Nkosana Mbuthu delivered the sucker punch in the 91st minute for Chiefs, stealing the show at the end.
In the other match, SuperSport United defeated Sekhukhune United 1-0 earlier on the day.
