Damon Wayans Sr recently shared about his life after divorce and how he had an unexpected romance unfold. The My Wife and Kids actor revealed that after separating from his wife, Lisa Thorner, in 2000, he had an unexpected love interest. He shared that the woman he was pursuing at that time had dated his nephew, but despite how weird the situation was at that time, Damon said everything flowed and happened naturally and even described it as “love at first sight.”

A Surprising Love Connection

According to E! News, Damon Wayans Sr spoke about this romance appearance he made on 2 April on the Club Shay Shay podcast. He said: “I was in love with her,…But it wasn’t like they were in love. Do you know how small the pool is out here in Cali? The dating pool. And this was probably what, 2001, 2002.” He further went on to explain that his feelings were genuine.

How his nephew reacted

Damon continued opening up on the podcast as he said. “I got divorced and I was by myself for two years and then I saw her, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, I’m in love,…And I found out my nephew had dated her. I’m like, ‘What’s up with that?’ He’s like, ‘That’s you.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, pass the Courvoisier.’ And I went ahead, and I fell in love. And it was okay.”

He also shared how, at that time, he experienced that “Family gatherings is awkward,” but he’s now enjoying life as a single man. The father said that he is happy and fulfilled with where he is currently. “I don’t date, I’m happy,” he said. “I wake up in the morning like a kid. I can do whatever I want to do. There’s peace in my house. I’ve been by myself too long. No, I’ll never say never, because if some woman can climb over the wall of resentment, she was sent from God.”
