A Comrades Marathon runner’s live televised proposal didnt go the way he anticipated. After crossing the finish line, the man proposed to his girlfriend, a fellow runner.

The moment was caught on camera.

COMRADES MARATHON RUNNER’S CRINGE PROPOSAL

In a clip posted on social media, a Comrades Marathon runner from Johannesburg’s Fitness From Africa running club was seen proposing to his partner.

The runner and his girlfriend had just crossed the finish line when he suddenly dropped down on one knee.

“Will you marry me?” he asked his partner – both of whom are green number veterans – who nervously laughed.

She then whispered in the man’s ear: “Not on TV, please!”

The live moment was aired as part of SuperSport’s Comrades Marathon coverage. The presenter asked the woman, “I don’t know if she said yes,” before she pushed his microphone out of his face.

In the comments section of the video, many South Africans felt sorry for the runner being publicly rejected. Others chastised the man for humiliating his partner on live television.
