Cold snap to hit hard Gauteng on Friday this weekend

The South African Weather Service has warned residents of Gauteng to prepare for a sharp drop in temperatures starting Friday.

The weather in the province is expected to become significantly colder as the weekend approaches. A preliminary forecast indicates a cold snap in Gauteng from Friday, as reported by regional forecaster Gauteng Weather.

In Pretoria, temperatures are expected to reach a low of 7°C and a high of 19°C on Friday.

For both Saturday and Sunday, temperatures are predicted to range between 16°C and 18°C. In Johannesburg, the forecast shows minimum temperatures dropping to 4°C with a high of 17°C on Friday. On Saturday, maximum temperatures are expected to fall to 14°C.

Gauteng residents to expect a drastic change in weather

The SA Weather Service has warned of damaging winds and waves in the coastal regions.

“Partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in the south and eastern parts of RSA. Severe thunderstorms, Damaging wind and waves which can make navigation difficult. Small vessels taking on water and capsizing within a locality are expected along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Port Edward.”

For Gauteng, residents should expect the weather to improve from Tuesday onwards.
