‘At some point we have failed the club and failed to deliver,’ said the Chiefs defender.
Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove says Amakhosi’s season has been a failure, even though the side have won the 2025 Nedbank Cup.

Chiefs will play Polokwane City in their last game of the season Betway Premiership on Saturday at FNB Stadium. Nasreddine Nabi’s side are currently ninth in the table and probably need to win to seal a place in next season’s MTN8.
Chiefs’ Premiership woes
Amakhosi are currently on a run of eight league games without a win, picking up just four points out of a possible 24.
“I have said before this is one of the biggest teams in Africa, and when you come here, you come to win titles, not to build, or find yourself in the position we find ourselves,” Dove told journalists at Naturena this week.
“At some point we have failed the club and failed to deliver. But … we can’t dwell on the past we have to look and see what is ahead. We have to focus on what we can do in the moment, and that is qualifying for the top eight.”
The Nedbank Cup was Chiefs’ first piece of PSL silverware in a decade. But for the Mozambican international it is clearly not enough.
“When I came here (in 2022) my mind was clear, I came to do big things and win titles,” he added.
“I came to improve not only as a player, also as a human. It is a feeling of failure. You can say you got something (the Nedbank Cup), but it is not what I projected (for myself).”
It remains to be seen if Dove gets a chance to continue with Chiefs next season. His contract expires at the end of June, though Amakhosi do have an option to extend it by one year.
“You can only focus on what you can control,” added the Chiefs defender.
“Whatever you can’t you leave in God’s hands. At the moments I am focused on what I can do to help the team qualify for the top eight.”
A tight battle
Chiefs are currently on 31 points, two points behind seventh-placed Rise and Shine heading into Saturday’s showdown.
