Miss Universe runner-up Chidimma Adetshina, has brazenly posted clips of her partying amid her mother’s arrest in Cape Town over the weekend.
According to reports, the woman – Anabela Rungo – was taken into custody after failing to leave South Africa after both her ID and passport was revoked. The beauty queen’s young son was with her mother at the time of her arrest.
Like Anabela, Chidimma also had her documents seized amid an investigation by the Department of Home Affairs.
The arrest comes days after the model and law student allegedly bragged about visiting SA.
CHIDIMMA’S MOTHER ARRESTED, TO BE DEPORTED?
In a statement, the Department of Home Affairs revealed that Chidimma Adetshina’s mother, Anabelo Rungo, had been arrested in Cape Town on Saturday, 15 February.
The statement read: “In an apparent act of brazen disregard for the legal consequences of her conduct, it appears that Rungo has defied her ‘undesirable’ status through her Mozambican passport.
“Investigations are ongoing into further potential misrepresentation and fraudulent conduct”.
According to Minister of Home Affairs Leon Schreiber, Anebela is not a SA citizen and was involved in identity theft and fraud when registering Chidimma’s birth.
The model and law student has since acquired Nigerian citizenship through her father. After her stint at the Miss Universe pageant in December 2024, Chidimma has remained in Nigeria.
However, Home Affairs stated that Anabela had continued to live in SA despite having her ID and passport revoked by authorities. Her case will now be handed over to the Hawks for further investigation.
According to eNCA, Chidimma’s mother will likely be deported. Authorities have consulted with the Department of Social Development and the SAPS Child Protection Unit on her son’s fate.
PARTYING UP A STORM
Despite her mother’s arrest and her son being placed in the care of authorities, Chidimma Adetshina posted up a storm of her partying in Nigeria.
The 23-year-old – who wore a sparkling designer gown – attended an event on Saturday evening. In her Instagram Stories, Chidimma sang and danced to blaring music.
