Cape Town confirms 11-hour water shutdown in these areas

Parts of Cape Town will face a 10-hour water shutdown due to planned maintenance on Monday, 23 June.

The first planned maintenance work is scheduled from 9:00 – 19:00 in Strand.

CAPE TOWN AREAS AFFECTED BY PLANNED MAINTENANCE

The City of Cape Town said planned maintenance work will result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Part of Strand– The water supply to this area will be shut off temporarily from 9:00 until 19:00 on Monday, 23 June. This will enable the maintenance team to continue with the pipe replacement construction in the area safely.

The water supply to Rusthof in Strand will be temporarily shut off from 9:00 until 20:00 on Tuesday, 24 June to enable the maintenance team to safely install a water meter and connect a pressure reducing valve to the existing 300mm diameter pipeline in Rusthof.

Part of Saxonsea – Atlantis– Similarly, the water supply to a large part of Saxonsea will also be shut off temporarily from 8:00 until 17:00 on Tuesday, 24 June to enable the maintenance to safely continue with the pipe replacement construction work in the area.

The City of Cape Town said Hermes Avenue, Lusitania Place, Kehrweider Street, Livanos Place, Middernak Crescent, Mauritius Street, Mexican Street, Montagu Street, Nimrod Street, Nieuw Place, Nautilus Street, Napoleon Street, Namaqua Place, Holland Street and possibly the immediate surrounding streets will experience low water pressure or no water during this period.

Kelderhof – Helderberg – The water supply to Kelderhof in the Helderberg will also be temporarily shut off from 9:00 until 20:00 on Thursday, 26 June. Residents will experience no water supply during this period, but a water tanker will be located at the entrance of the estate to provide water for domestic use.

Town 3, Harare, Litha Park, and Kuyasa – Likewise, the City of Cape Town said water supply to these areas will be temporarily shut off from 9:00 until 20:00 on Thursday, 26 June, to enable the maintenance team to connect a water meter on the water supply main in Mfuleni.

Notably, there will be no water during this period but water tankers will be available to provide water for domestic use.

ZERO-PRESSURE TESTS

Additionally, the City of Cape Town said zero-pressure tests (ZPT) and conditional assessments will be done on the water supply network, resulting in water supply disruptions in the following areas:

Tuesday, 24 June, from 10:00 until 16:00: Kraaifontein, Peerless Park East, Peerless Park West, Scottsville and Eikendal.
Wednesday, 25 June, from 10:00 until 16:00: Belmont Park, Eikendal, Kleinbegin and Summerville.
Thursday, 26 June, from 10:00 until 16:00:Kenridge, Durbanville Hills, Vergesig and Aurora.
