Cape Town City FC face a do-or-die clash for Betway Premiership survival on Wednesday against Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) side Orbit College at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg.

Those two sides, along with Casric Stars, are currently involved in a round-robin promotion-relegation playoff battle.

Orbit College and Casric Stars, finished second and third respectively, in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

Brink of relegation

The first three matches all ended in draws, while, crucially, in the most recent match, Orbit College picked up a 1-0 win over Casric Stars.

That leaves Cape Town City FC on the brink of relegation from South Africa’s top-flight.

A defeat to Orbit College on Wednesday would officially spell their demise, leaving Cape Town – and the Western Cape – without a single Betway Premiership team.

A draw would leave Cape Town City FC having to beat Casric Stars in the final playoff match on Monday, 30 June to stand any chance of survival.
