Bridget Mangwandi opened up about her journey on season five of MasterChef South Africaafter making the final three, in an exclusive interview with The South African.
BRIDGET MANGWANDI TALKS ‘MASTERCHEF SA’ SEASON FIVE
MasterChef South Africa season five finalist Bridget Mangwandi is the youngest contestant this season. She was best known for her trade mark multitasking. Bridget hails from Hartbeespoort, Gauteng. She studied studied Consumer Science in Food Biochemistry at the University of the Free State.
“What surprised me most in the kitchen is how resilient I am, how calm I am, how confident I am. Even if I am not feeling confident inside, many things don’t always go as planned but I would always pivot,” she said exclusively to The South African.
“First thing I’d do with that one million is investing it and then developing my own food product line and then eventually putting the capital back into it. I want to make products that make cooking easy and beautiful and stay true to African and Carribean cuisines,” she continued.
Bridget also noted that one of her “lows” on the show was her injury. She was medically evacuated with a severe injury to her thumb.
BRIDGET ON HER FAVOURITE GUEST JUDGES
The 20-year-old said that Gregory Henderson was her favourite guest judge.
“I’d say during the semi-finals having chef Gregory Henderson was an absolute favourite because he was calm. He was really great in the kitchen and he was a great sport,” she said.
She also noted that chef Nokx Majozi was another one of her favourite guest judges.
“Chef Nokx Majozi, I really enjoyed meeting her, she was exceptional, her pie was amazing. I dream about that pie, and I am a huge fan of pie. She really inspired me with the craftmanship… she is humble, she really inspired me,” she continued.
