This weekend was one for the musicians as many of our country’s top talents took to the red carpet to enjoy the fruits of their labour after a year’s worth of hard work finally gained recognition.

On the night, Hip Hop rapper Priddy Ugly smiled from ear to ear as he walked the stage to receive his award for the Best Hip-Hop Album at this year’s 30th edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMA30).

While this win may have been a major achievement, especially as he previously considered stepping away from rapping, his greatest prize was that which walked by his side on the red carpet – the love of his life and number one supporter, Bontle Modiselle-Moloi.

The happily married couple has faced several challenges together over the years, while some may have expected to see them crumble, they have continued to soar into greater heights.

The well-known choreographer and television presenter recently spoke to the news publication Daily Sun in which she shared the secret to their unshakable bond.

Speaking to the publication she said that it was her faith that helped their relationship stand the test of time.

“When someone you love is going through a tough time, that’s when you step in and carry the weight. As a woman of faith, I believe in God’s promises. If I only walked by sight, I could have left a long time ago.”

Bontle further highlighted that they protect their peace by ignoring negative comments.

After winning the award, the two were ecstatic. Bontle explained that during the length of their relationship, she has witnessed both the highest and lowest points of his career.

“I think there have been more lows in his career than there have been highs. So to see him finally achieve something as beautiful as this, you never want to feel like a recognition like this is the pinnacle of your success, but it does help to know that we are not crazy,” she told the publication.

Meanwhile in an interview with TshisaLive the rapper shares that he was over the moon.

“I want to thank God and my family. It’s been a long time coming. It’s a very well-deserved award.”

After announcing his retirement from music in October last year, the award was reassurance that this was the space in which he belonged, this has allowed him to give credit to the fans and colleagues to declined his decision to step away.

“They have rejuvenated me, they brought me back to life. A year ago my parents were speaking to me asking if I don’t want to go get a job, so this is for them as well,” he added.
