Beyoncé made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards, winning the Best Country Album for her groundbreaking project, Cowboy Carter.

BEYONCÉ’S ACHIEVEMENT IN COUNTRY MUSIC
The awards ceremony occurred on 2 February, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. South African comedian Trevor Noah hosted the show.
As Taylor Swift presented the award, she reflected on her journey in country music, according to The New York Times.
“They say you never forget where you came from. I will never forget standing here right on this spot almost exactly 15 years ago.”
The audience erupted in cheers as Beyoncé accepted the trophy, visibly moved. She embraced her husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy before taking to the stage.
In her acceptance speech, Beyoncé expressed her gratitude and surprise. “Wow. I want to thank God — oh my God — that I’m still able to do what I love after all these years.”
BEYONCÉ ON DEFYING BOUNDARIES
She acknowledged the many country artists who collaborated on the album and highlighted the importance of persistence in pursuing one’s passion.
“I think sometimes ‘genre’ is a code word to keep us in our place as artists,” she added, encouraging others to defy boundaries.
Cowboy Carter debuted at number one on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. It features a diverse range of artists, including country legends like Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, according to Forbes.

The album also pays tribute to Black pioneers in country music, such as Linda Martell. Notably, it includes contributions from contemporary Black country artists like Shaboozey and Tanner Adell.
Earlier in the evening, Beyoncé also won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus for II Most Wanted.
This win further solidified her status in a genre that has often overlooked her contributions.
Despite facing challenges in gaining recognition within country music circles, Beyoncé’s persistence has paid off.
