Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour just delivered a heartwarming family moment that fans won’t soon forget. On 1 May at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, the superstar singer brought her mother, Tina Knowles, onstage to celebrate a major milestone.
TINA KNOWLES MEMOIR
The milestone in question is the runaway success of Tina’s memoir, Matriarch, which recently shot to number one on the New York Times bestseller list.
After performing Protectorwith her daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi, Beyoncé welcomed her mother to the stage.
The crowd erupted as three generations of Knowles women stood arm-in-arm, a powerful symbol of legacy and love.
Beyoncé beamed with pride. She declared, “Today is a big day because my mother, who worked so hard on her book, has the No. 1 book on the New York Times bestsellers list.
Congratulations, Mama T!” The audience joined in, echoing her joy, with People.
TINA KNOWLES ON TOPPING THE BESTSELLERS LIST
Tina Knowles, now 71, almost didn’t write the memoir. “I thought people only want to know all my kids’ business.
They’re not going to be interested in me,” she confessed in an interview.
But as she wrote, she realised her life-from her Creole roots in Louisiana to raising global icons like Beyoncé and Solange-was worth sharing.
“I’ve lived this incredible life, and you don’t realise it until you start writing everything down,” Tina reflected.
FAMILY LEGACY
She began the project over a decade ago, hoping to leave a legacy for her great-grandchildren.
“I wish that I had asked my mother more. I wish I had investigated more,” she said, urging others to record their family stories before they’re lost.
Matriarch is a tribute to Black identity, motherhood, and resilience.
Tina writes, “Even at 70, I am still learning valuable lessons – revelations that I wish that I had had at 40 or even 20.”
FAMILY, HERITAGE AND POWER
Her journey from Galveston, Texas, to the world stage is a testament to perseverance and the wisdom passed down through generations.
Beyoncé’s pride is unmistakable. On Instagram, she gushed, “Mama, I couldn’t be prouder. You put your heart into this book. To know you is to love you”.
It’s about family, heritage, and the power of women lifting each other up. As Beyoncé said, “You have to know where you came from to know where you’re going.”
Matriarch is available now, retailing for around R700 in South Africa. It’s a must-read for anyone who values family, legacy, and the unstoppable force of a mother’s love.
