Barry Keoghan, the 32-year-old Irish actor, has made the decision to step away from Instagram. This is shortly after news broke of his breakup with American singer-actress Sabrina Carpenter.
The couple, who had been dating for just under a year, parted ways in early December.

Their split has left fans speculating about the reasons behind it and the personal impact it has had on the stars.
On Saturday, 7 December 2024, Keoghan’s Instagram account displayed a message saying, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.” This signaled the deactivation of his profile.
The move comes just a day after Keoghan posted a series of gym selfies. In these pictures, he flaunted his toned physique in a dark green tank top, according to E News.
He also shared a few shots with blonde hair, which appeared to be from his upcoming film Crime 101.

Hours after posting these images, his account was deleted, leading fans to question whether the breakup with Carpenter played a role in his decision.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) later that day, Keoghan explained his reasons for leaving Instagram.
“I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract me from my family and work,” he wrote. This offered a glimpse into his personal priorities.
Despite stepping away from Instagram, Keoghan’s X account remains active. However, he has not posted there since late November.
DATING RUMOURS
The deactivation of his social media has sparked discussions among fans and the media, especially after news of his breakup with Carpenter.
The couple had been romantically linked for nearly a year, first sparking dating rumours in late 2023. They then publicly confirming their relationship in March 2024 at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty.
A source close to the couple explained that Keoghan and Carpenter’s decision to split was primarily due to their demanding careers.
“They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” the source revealed.
BARRY KEOGHAN’S INTENSE SCHEDULE
The intense schedules of both stars—Keoghan working on multiple projects, including Crime 101, and Carpenter rising in the music world—might have contributed to the separation.
Their relationship had been widely publicised, with fans closely following the ups and downs of their romance.
Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet, released in August 2024, fuelled speculations, particularly the track Bed Chem, according to Daily Mail.

In the song, she sings: “I was in a sheer dress the day that we met / We were both in a rush, we talked for a sec / Who’s the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent?
Who’s the cute guy with the wide, blue eyes?”
The lyrics led fans to believe that Keoghan was the inspiration for the sultry track. This added a layer of intrigue to their relationship.
BARRY KEOGHAN AND ‘PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE’
Keoghan then made an appearance in Carpenter’s music video for Please Please Please. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100, further fuelling their public connection.
The video was a notable collaboration that brought both stars closer into the limelight, showcasing their chemistry, according to People.
LOVE SPLIT
In an interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast last month, Keoghan was asked about his relationship with Carpenter.
Laughing off the question, he said, “Oh, I knew you’d do this.” He added, “Listen, all I’m going to say is I’m incredibly blessed.
Such a strong, independent lady who’s massively talented and yeah. Pretty special.”
The couple’s split has left fans disappointed.
Keoghan’s decision to take a step back from social media signals a desire to focus on his personal life and career.
NAVIGATING HOLLYWOOD
In the age of constant online scrutiny, it’s clear that Keoghan values his privacy and wants to focus on what matters most to him.
As for Sabrina Carpenter, she has not publicly commented on the breakup yet.
Fans in South Africa and around the world will no doubt continue to watch both stars as they navigate their careers and personal lives.
